Pistoia

Pistoia fonde magnificamente il fascino medievale con lo stile rinascimentale. Le radici medievali della città sono evidenti nella sua architettura ben conservata, dal Duomo romanico di San Zeno con il suo campanile imponente fino alla Piazza del Duomo, una piazza centrale che ospita alcuni dei monumenti più iconici di Pistoia. La città è meglio esplorabile a piedi, con strette vie medievali, vicoli nascosti e affascinanti negozi locali che invitano alla scoperta. Goditi la cucina tradizionale toscana con un tocco pistoiese; pensa a piatti sostanziosi come la ribollita, i crostini e i formaggi artigianali abbinati ai vini locali.

Pistoia si trova nella Valle del Fiume Ombrone, circondata da montagne e colline a nord e a sud. Vette più alte in lontananza, insieme a colline punteggiate da strade alberate spettacolari, uliveti e vigneti, offrono viste mozzafiato e meravigliose escursioni in bici pre- e post-gara, oltre a opportunità turistiche.

A breve distanza in auto, troverai anche Montecatini Terme, una famosa città termale dove puoi rilassarti nelle acque termali ricche di minerali, aggiungendo un tocco di relax al tuo viaggio GFNY. Se desideri aggiungere più tappe al tuo itinerario toscano, Firenze, Lucca e Pisa sono tutte a meno di un'ora di distanza, aggiungendo esperienze, panorami e divertimento indimenticabili al tuo viaggio GFNY Pistoia.

Percorso

La gara di 116 km con 1.488 m di dislivello inizia nel centro storico di Pistoia, in Piazza del Duomo. Da lì, si dirige a sud verso quello che è probabilmente il cuore del ciclismo su strada mondiale: le colline del Montalbano. Questo modesto colle di 500 m, caratterizzato da vigneti e uliveti, ha dato i natali ad alcuni dei più grandi ciclisti professionisti, passati e presenti, ed è sede di numerose gare, dai livelli giovanili fino al World Tour. L’area non è famosa solo per la sua tradizione ciclistica: all’80° km, il percorso attraversa Vinci, la città natale di Leonardo da Vinci, il genio artista e scienziato.
Dopo i primi 26 km pianeggianti, il percorso entra nel vivo a sud del fiume Arno con tre salite. Nel punto più meridionale del tracciato, la terza salita conduce alla cittadina di Montespertoli, tra le colline del Chianti, da cui si può scorgere Firenze, distante appena 20 km.
Ritornando verso nord, la salita di Castra dal versante occidentale porta al punto più alto della gara, a 420 m. Segue una divertente discesa tortuosa fino a Vinci. Da lì, inizia la lunga ascesa di 11 km fino al paese di San Baronto, a 365 m di altitudine. La pendenza raramente supera il 3%, ed è un’esperienza sensoriale che spiega perché la Toscana sia considerata un paradiso per il ciclismo: la strada si snoda tra vigneti e uliveti, regalando viste spettacolari sulla valle di Lucca e sulle Alpi Apuane.
Da San Baronto, al km 91, il percorso riporta a Pistoia scendendo prima verso Casalguidi. Da lì, 10 chilometri pianeggianti conducono al traguardo in Piazza del Duomo a Pistoia.
 
I partecipanti al percorso medio seguono lo stesso tracciato del lungo fino al km 18, per poi accorciare di 40 km deviando a Seano. Affronteranno la sfidante salita del Pinone, per poi scendere verso Vinci, dove si ricongiungeranno al percorso lungo fino al traguardo.

IL PERCORSO LUNGO È UNA COMPETIZIONE: Solo i finisher del percorso lungo sono idonei per le classifiche di categoria e per i premi Overall e Podio. Se vuoi gareggiare ed essere classificato nella tua categoria, devi completare il percorso lungo. Il 10% dei migliori finisher di ogni gruppo d’età guadagna un posto nel Qualifier Corral in ogni evento GFNY World.

 

IL PERCORSO MEDIO NON È UNA COMPETIZIONE: I ciclisti del percorso medio riceveranno il tempo dal punto di partenza a quello di arrivo, ma non verranno classificati in base al tempo di arrivo. Tutti i tempi di arrivo saranno elencati in ordine alfabetico.

LA MAGLIA: Tutti i ciclisti ricevono la maglia ufficiale della gara GFNY Pistoia, che è un abbigliamento obbligatorio per la corsa. La maglia è progettata a NYC e realizzata in Italia.
