Pistoia

Pistoia fonde magnificamente il fascino medievale con lo stile rinascimentale. Le radici medievali della città sono evidenti nella sua architettura ben conservata, dal Duomo romanico di San Zeno con il suo campanile imponente fino alla Piazza del Duomo, una piazza centrale che ospita alcuni dei monumenti più iconici di Pistoia. La città è meglio esplorabile a piedi, con strette vie medievali, vicoli nascosti e affascinanti negozi locali che invitano alla scoperta. Goditi la cucina tradizionale toscana con un tocco pistoiese; pensa a piatti sostanziosi come la ribollita, i crostini e i formaggi artigianali abbinati ai vini locali.

Pistoia si trova nella Valle del Fiume Ombrone, circondata da montagne e colline a nord e a sud. Vette più alte in lontananza, insieme a colline punteggiate da strade alberate spettacolari, uliveti e vigneti, offrono viste mozzafiato e meravigliose escursioni in bici pre- e post-gara, oltre a opportunità turistiche.

A breve distanza in auto, troverai anche Montecatini Terme, una famosa città termale dove puoi rilassarti nelle acque termali ricche di minerali, aggiungendo un tocco di relax al tuo viaggio GFNY. Se desideri aggiungere più tappe al tuo itinerario toscano, Firenze, Lucca e Pisa sono tutte a meno di un'ora di distanza, aggiungendo esperienze, panorami e divertimento indimenticabili al tuo viaggio GFNY Pistoia.

Percorso

La gara di 117 km con 2.000 m di dislivello parte dal centro storico di Pistoia, in Piazza del Duomo. Da lì, si dirige a sud verso quello che è considerato il cuore del ciclismo su strada nel mondo: le colline del Montalbano. Quest'area, circondata da vigneti e uliveti, è la casa di alcuni dei più grandi ciclisti professionisti, del passato e del presente, e ospita numerose gare, dai livelli giovanili fino al World Tour. La zona non è famosa solo per il suo patrimonio ciclistico; al km 90, il percorso attraversa Vinci, il luogo di nascita di Leonardo da Vinci, il genio artista e scienziato.

Dopo i primi 21 km pianeggianti, l'estremità sud-orientale del Montalbano offre quattro salite consecutive in cui si guadagnano e perdono circa 200 m a ogni salita. Nel punto più a sud del percorso, una salita porta alla piccola città di Montespertoli, tra le colline del Chianti, da cui si può intravedere Firenze, a soli 20 km di distanza.

Ritornando a nord, la salita di Castra sul versante occidentale conduce al punto più alto della gara a 420 m. Segue una discesa tortuosa e divertente fino a Vinci. Da lì, inizia la salita graduale di 12 km fino al paese di San Baronto, a un'altitudine di 365 m. Non è quasi mai più ripida del 3% ed è una festa per i sensi, un motivo per cui la Toscana è considerata un paradiso per i ciclisti: la strada si snoda tra vigneti e uliveti, offrendo viste spettacolari sulla valle di Lucca e sulle Alpi Apuane.

Da San Baronto, al km 102, il percorso torna a Pistoia, prima scendendo da San Baronto via Casalguidi e, da lì, percorrendo gli ultimi 10 km pianeggianti fino al traguardo alla “Cattedrale”, un edificio industriale storico che ospita ora il ritiro pettorali GFNY e le festività post-gara.

I ciclisti del percorso medio percorrono lo stesso tracciato dei ciclisti del percorso lungo fino al km 23,5, e tagliano 51 km del percorso lungo, deviando a Carmignano. Affronterete la salita impegnativa del Pinone, per poi scendere verso Vinci e ricongiungervi con il percorso lungo da Vinci fino al traguardo.

IL PERCORSO LUNGO È UNA COMPETIZIONE: Solo i finisher del percorso lungo sono idonei per le classifiche di categoria e per i premi Overall e Podio. Se vuoi gareggiare ed essere classificato nella tua categoria, devi completare il percorso lungo. Il 10% dei migliori finisher di ogni gruppo d’età guadagna un posto nel Qualifier Corral in ogni evento GFNY World.

 

IL PERCORSO MEDIO NON È UNA COMPETIZIONE: I ciclisti del percorso medio riceveranno il tempo dal punto di partenza a quello di arrivo, ma non verranno classificati in base al tempo di arrivo. Tutti i tempi di arrivo saranno elencati in ordine alfabetico.
